Winston Groom Discusses the Battle of Vicksburg

Winston Groom is an internationally, nationally, and locally celebrated author and will be visiting The Museum of Mobile on April 23, 2009, to discuss his newest book, Vicksburg 1863. Light refreshments will be available at 6pm and Groom will begin discussion of his book at 6:30pm. The book will be available for purchase in the Shop in the Southern Market; to reserve your copy in advance, call 208-7653. Groom will be signing books after the discussion.
Groom’s new book tells how the Union Army sought to divide the Confederacy in two and of the inevitable devastation the division brought to the Southern states and their troops. Ulysses S. Grant’s leading role as capturer of the Mississippi is also discussed.
Groom is a Vietnam veteran who was raised in Mobile, Alabama. He is the author of 15 books, two of which are prize-winning. Groom is best known for Forrest Gump, a New York Times Bestseller.
