Named Director Emeritus of the Museum of Mobile

Tuesday, December 18, 2007 – Mayor Sam Jones, the City Council and the Mobile Museum Board named Caldwell Delaney Director Emeritus to honor Mr. Delaney’s memory and his many years of service to the citizens of Mobile. Caldwell Delaney was instrumental in collecting the history and artifacts of this city’s rich history to establish the Museum of Mobile, the history museum in historic downtown.
Mr. Caldwell Delaney served as Director of the Museum of Mobile first in the Southern Market/City Complex, then the Phoenix Firehouse and finally the Bush House and served the Mobile Museum Board and the City of Mobile by faithfully preserving and nurturing Mobile’s history in the form of the collection then housed at the Bush House at 355 Government Street.
The Museum of Mobile, located at 111 Royal Street, is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on the permanent collection exhibits and the “We Remember” traveling exhibit, call the Museum at 251.208.7569 or www.museumofmobile.com.
